Bree Towner, 28, from Edwardsville, Illinois, was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma in 2015. She underwent a series of surgeries, including a drastic operation which shaved off the end of her nose. Towner was left with scars, which she claims left her on the brink of suicide. The trainee teacher has since conquered cancer and was given the all-clear by doctors in March after going under the knife three times and given almost 100 stitches. She now has a brand new nose, expertly crafted using the flesh from her scalp.

Suspicious about her symptoms back in 2013, she alerted doctors after a strange spot appeared on her nose, which led to a scrape biopsy. Although tests for cancer initially came back negative, just seven months later the spot had ballooned in size. In January, she was handed the devastating news that she had infiltrative basal cell carcinoma.
"The most difficult aspect is the damage done to my self-esteem. I had dealt with minor bouts of self-esteem issues, depression, and anxiety before my diagnosis from just the stress of life." Towner said. "But after surgery I was suicidal. I never attempted it, but the thoughts were there daily between February and July"
"Throughout the process, while being in public, I’ve seen many people staring out of either rudeness or curiosity, which was a major part of the mental health issues."
Ms Towner was handed the all-clear after the operation and she went under the knife again on April 9 to remove her overlying nose, dubbed her ‘arch’.

She still faces the threat that her ‘nose flap’ will reject her new nose as she undergoes further surgery to reduce the size of her nose as well as adjustments to placement of her eyebrows.

The 7th Division of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri say the explosion that was recorded in Kayamla and Dalori along Bama Road this morning is not a Boko Haram attack but as a result of their routine testing of some military equipment.

Spokesman of the Division, Col Tukur Gusau while speaking to newsmen, disputed claims that the explosions were from Boko haram attacks. He appealed to residents in the state to remain calm. "It is a routine test firing of our weapons to ensure that they are in a state of readiness,'' he said

They said loud explosions were heard from the areas of Kayamla and Dalori, three days after Maiduguri was attacked by the insurgents, leaving 10 dead and many more injured.

“The sound of bomb explosions is being heard from Kayamla and Dalori along Bama Road since around 7:00 am today,” said Kursi Yusuf, an employee at the nearby University of Maiduguri.

“We are not sure whether the terrorists are planning to invade the town but the sound vibrating is devastating,” he said.

Khadija Mustapha, a resident of Dalori Quarters, 11 kilometres from Maiduguri, said she had fled her home with her three daughters for fear of being caught in the explosions.

“I don’t know what will happen. The sound of the explosives is really disturbing,” she said. “Many of us… have vacated our homes.”

A military officer who did not want to be named confirmed the series of blasts but said troops were on top of the situation.

“The terrorists will not have their way,” he told AFP.

Boko Haram has repeatedly attacked Maiduguri with at least 10 people killed and 39 others injured on Thursday night when four suicide bombers blew themselves up in the city.

On September 20, some 117 people were killed in a wave of attacks blamed on the Islamists.

On Saturday in Nigeria’s capital Abuja, at least 18 people were killed and 41 wounded when multiple blasts rocked the crowded Kuje and Nyanya districts of the city.

Nigeria’s military has claimed a series of successes against Boko Haram in recent weeks, which has led many to fear an increase in attacks against civilians in the restive northeast.

The conflict has claimed more than 1,260 lives in Nigeria alone since Muhammadu Buhari took office as president on May 29, according to an AFP tally.

At least 17,000 people have been killed and more than 2.5 million made homeless since the Boko Haram insurgency began in 2009.

Three more ministers of ex-president Jonathan are facing possible arrest following Diezani Alison-Madueke, arrest in London on Friday. A source in one of the anti-graft agencies told The Nation last night that Mrs. Alison-Madueke is “just one of the few cases of ex-ministers under investigation.”
“We have at least about three issues at hand but I will not disclose their names. Do not forget that these three cases are outside the matter of ex-Minister Stella Oduah which is stuck in court. We have made our position known on this. The depletion of the $1billion in Sovereign Wealth Fund by about $700m is one of the priority cases with anti-graft agencies. There are also the issues of reckless granting of tax waivers to oil firms.”
A source, who spoke in confidence, said:
“Those in Jonathan’s camp felt the ex-president’s visit to President Buhari had created a window for mutual talks and negotiation on alleged graft findings by the new administration. They did not know that Buhari really meant business to retrieve looted funds. Actually, some ex-ministers, including Diezani, have already placed their counsel in Nigeria on standby in case of any invitation by anti-graft agencies. Their plan was that the matter would be settled in Nigerian court. But the arrest of the ex-Minister in London has added a new dimension to the anti-corruption agenda of the Buhari administration.
“Those in Jonathan’s camp were shocked by Diezani’s arrest. They have been desperately trying to get in touch with the ex-Minister since yesterday without success. As at today (yesterday), they are worried that Diezani has cut off contact with everyone, creating fears that she might spill the beans.
“The fear in Jonathan’s camp is that Diezani might be given the James Ibori treatment. They are suspecting that she might be tried and convicted in the UK.”
A former presidential aide said:
“None of us has been able to reach out to Diezani because all her lines are off. She has also not called to share her travails with anybody.”
How Diezani was nabbed
It was gathered yesterday that the voluntary surrender to the National Crimes Agency (NCA) by a Nigerian oil baron laid the foundation for a comprehensive investigation, and arrest of Diezani.
The said oil baron, according to sources, was allegedly fronting for the ex-Minister and may be holding some looted funds in trust for her.
It was learnt that following surveillance and monitoring by security agencies, the oil baron confided in a former Head of State who encouraged him to open up to the NCA on all such slush accounts.
“The oil magnate voluntarily surrendered to NCA because he knew the game was up. He was not having peace where he was staying in the UK. But the former Head of State assisted in cracking this financial crime.”
Mrs. Alison-Madueke and her alleged accomplices are expected to be arraigned in a London court tomorrow.

Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has expressed deep concern over the steady decline in the revenues accruing to the state from the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC).

He explained that the decline was evident in the less than one billion naira shortfall in the revenue received by the state between August and September, 2015.

Dickson, who spoke in Yenagoa at a lecture/dinner organized as part of activities marking the 55th independence of Nigeria and 19th year anniversary of the creation of Bayelsa State, disclosed that the state received N5.2 billion for September 2015.

He disclosed that the state received N6.2 billion in the month of August and that the amount from the previous month had dropped to N5.6 billion occasioned by the sharp reduction in prices of crude oil in the international market.

“The last report we got was that our allocation has dropped from N6.2 billion for last month, to about N5.6 billion for this month. This shows the challenges that our state is grappling with.

“But, we are not alone. Whereas, many states cannot even, meet their basic obligations, we in this state, are still carrying on.

“As a matter of fact, I have again instructed that salaries be paid as from Monday next week. But this is coming with a lot of cost and sacrifices.

“You can imagine what would have happened, if we didn’t experience this drastic and sudden drop in our revenue, Bayelsa would have been something else.

“But we are still not despondent. We are hopeful that by the grace of God, revenues will improve and we will again work together to take our state to the next level,” Dickson said.

He called on the people to be patient and show some understanding, in view of the current economic challenges.

The governor however, expressed hope that, the situation would improve to enable his administration execute its developmental agenda for the people of the state.

On the 19th anniversary of the state, Dickson lauded the efforts of late General Sani Abacha, founding fathers and past governors of the state for their sacrifices and contributions towards making the creation of Bayelsa a reality.

He enjoined the federal government to ensure that everything was done to maintain law and order in the state ahead of the Dec. 5 governorship elections and urged the people to sustain the existing peace.

Some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, yesterday defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

They include Chief Paulinus Akpeki, former member, Federal House of Representatives; Chief of Staff, Government House, Asaba as well as Misan Kubeyinje and Ebifa Ijeoma, two former commissioners under ex-governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.

Speaking, Akpeki explained that with the APC in charge of the federal government, it was proper for him to pitch tent with the ruling party at the centre instead of being in the opposition.

He added that there was no reason to remain in a place where they were no longer appreciated.

Akpeki added that his association with the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, dated back to Bendel State, when he was to be his running mate in 1991 before the separation of the states to Edo and Delta States by former military president, Ibrahim Babangida.

In attendance were state chairman, Prophet Jones Erue, Chief Ayiri Emami, among other APC topshots.

The defection has heightened speculation that some PDP members and Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa were at loggerheads over appointments and other decisions of the administration.

This is nothing short of a miracle! This 16-month-old child, Young Jackson Taylor, has made a miracle recovery after his head was internally decapitated in a car crash .

The  toddler was with his mom and sister when they collided head on with another vehicle at 70mph.
The force from the collision was so intense that Jackson's head pulled apart from his neck in an internal decapitation, according to spinal surgeon Dr Geoff Askin.

Incredibly and miraculously, the medics were able to reattach his head according to 7NewsMelbourne.

In a six-hour surgery Dr Askin and his team were able to reattach the boy's vetebrae using wire and a piece of Jackson's rib.
"A lot of children wouldn't survive that injury in the first place, and if they did and they were resuscitated then they may never move or breathe again." said Dr Askin.
Jackson now wears what his family calls a "halo" to keep his body stable, which will be removed in eight weeks.
After that, he will be able to live a normal and healthy life. God is great!

An unlucky and dumb prisoner Nikko Jenkins believed he was told by ancient god Apophis, who resembles a giant snake, to make his member look like a reptile. So he sliced it off.
This was the same guy who utterly failed a couple of months ago, when he attempted to carve '666' onto his own forehead after he forgot he was looking into the mirror and actually carved  '999' instead, lol.

The convicted murderer, who slaughtered four people, Juan Uribe-Pena, Jorge Cajiga-Ruiz, Curtis Bradford and Andrea Kruger, in a crazed killing spree in 2013, also tried to slice his tongue like a snake and smeared the blood all over his cell walls.
Prison wardens said they don't known how Jenkins, who is kept in a private cell, gets access to blades and hides them.
His latest painful activity has left Jenkins needing 27 stitches. There are speculations that Jenkins is doing these self mutilations so he can claim insanity.

Jenkins says he acts under the voice commands of a serpent god, but psychiatrists are split on whether is he a genuine schizophrenic or not.

The Managing Director of Global Lifting Services Nigeria Limited,Mr.  Patrice Unogu, on Saturday said his company which is based in Port Harcourt, is engaged in inspection of lifting equipment, certification, training and supplies, paid $8,000 to a firm that has since refused to execute the contract given to it and has also disappeared. He added that the Nigerian Consulate in South Africa was assisting to locate a company

According to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Johannesburg, South Africa, Unogu said his firm was introduced to the South African company based in Johannesburg in 2012 to help produce a software.
He said:"We entered into a contractual agreement .They gave us an agreement which we filled and paid them a deposit sum of $8,000".
"When we started, they were responding and they were sending samples of what they were doing and somewhere along the line, they stopped".
"We tried pacifying them, after some time, they started again, but thereafter, nothing happened again" he said.
Unogu said his firm then wrote the South African company several letters and made several calls but got no response.
He added tha the case was reported to the South African Commercial Attache in Nigeria who advised him to write to write to SA's High commissioner to Nigeria and copy him.
"Nigeria's Consul General in South Africa has taken up the case and is assisting us to locate the company.
"My company has suffered losses worth more than $500,000 because of the non delivery of the software when it was supposed to be delivered,“ he said.

51 year old Hayden Vandiver who is accused of breaking into his old workplace, damaging property and stealing a pickup truck belonging to his former boss, who he despised claims he stole the truck so he can be jailed just to get away from his wife, lol.

Speaking from behind bars to News 2, Vandiver admitted the rampage last Sunday and said he was under the influence of drugs but grinning, he also said he planned to get caught so he would be jailed and forced to leave his wife.
He said: "She is having a bad time right now. She knows I did this to get away from her."
Police say Vandiver was caught on camera stealing the 2012 prized Dodge 2500 and a trailer valued at over $60,000.
Vandiver said he quit his job over a year ago but said he didn't like his old boss.
He added: "It made me feel great because I know it will hurt him.
“He’ll come in the next day and his little baby ain’t sitting there and it is four foot in a creek.
“The only thing I didn’t like about it was swimming out of it."
Vandiver was charged with driving under the influence, burglary and vandalism alongside other crimes.

The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammad Sanusi II, is saddened about the loss of many lives at the stoning of the devil rites during the recent Hajj.
He has advised the federal government to encourage Nigerians who go to Hajj in future to skip that part of the rite unless they get spaces close to Jamrat where the stoning takes place.

According to the Nation, Alhaji Sanusi told Sokoto pilgrims in the Holy Land that stoning of the devil is not worth the blood of any Muslim adding that the refusal to perform the stoning of devil rituals does not in any way invalidate one’s Hajj.
He said:“During the era of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he permitted pilgrims who came on camels to stay in Makkah after Arafat, instead of staying in Mina and sleeping at Muzdalifa.
“So, if the Prophet could give such grace to some people, just to protect their animals, why didn’t our scholars educate our people properly to avoid this untoward hardship and death.
“Therefore, it will be part of my recommendations to the federal government that, if we cannot get accommodation close to Jamrat where the Arabs reside in Mina, then this year may be the last time we will sleep in Mina and Muzdalifa because we want to stone the devil.
“Besides that, if one deliberately refuses to even perform the stoning of the devil rituals, all he needs to do is to slaughter a ram. So, if this is the situation, why do we go and suffer and die instead of sacrificing a ram?
“As is it presently, sleeping in Mina and Muzdalifa is not backed by any Hadith or verse of the Qur’an. So, why do we continue to do it?”

The United States has urged the Federal Government to do everything possible to ensure the safe return of the more than 200 Chibok girls that were abducted in April 2014.

The US acting Consul General, Dehab Ghebreab, who spoke at the red-carpet première of the Hollywood crime-drama thriller, ‘Captive’, in Lagos State on Thursday said the US government would stand against anyone and/or groups, who persecute, discriminate and kill people based on their religion.

She said:“Nigeria has its share of humanitarian problems with Internally Displaced People due to the vicious atrocities of Boko Haram. In 2014, the United States provided about $11 million for humanitarian assistance to Nigeria and we continue to support Nigeria to crush Boko Haram. On this day, the Chibok girls have been missing for 535 days. Everything humanly possible must be done to ‘Bring Back the Girls’.”

A woman was shocked to discover a wartime shell she had used as a vase for 30 years was still live.
Kathryn Rawlins, 45, had found the shell buried in the playing fields at her school when she was 15.
Assuming that it safe, and thinking it would make a nice vase, she had kept it filled with her favourite flowers for more than three decades until she saw a TV documentary and realised she may have actually been sitting feet from an unexploded bomb.
After calling the police, MoD experts were brought in to take away the vase and safely remove the explosive - before returning the casing to her.
Warks, said: “The police said the shell had the potential to have killed anybody within about 20 metres of it and could have taken the house down.
“It’s funny to think that I had it on my mantelpiece the entire time - it’s just become a part of my family now.
“I have had the shell on the mantelpiece for three decades now and even took it to university. I used to stick plastic roses out of the top of it when I was dancing around to Madonna.
“Luckily my husband Chris just thought it was funny.”
Kathryn said: “I made the strangest call to the police non-emergency hotline. I started off the conversation by telling them not to panic and attempted to describe the shell that I had.
“I told them it was 12 inches in length and three inches across at its base. The top of it has a conical tip, which can be unscrewed.
“I used to unscrew it and put the flowers out of the top.
“It’s really heavy to hold and has some writing that looks like it could be German around the top.”
“In the end I just sent them a photo of the shell I’d been using as a vase. After the police saw that, they had an officer at my house within the hour.
“The situation then became very serious after the police told me that they would have to take the shell to the local barracks as the Ministry of Defence needed to examine it.
“It was a little bit worrying.
“The police brought it back to me when they assured me the shell had been made safe though, so I’ll carry on using it for my flowers.
“I took it into school to show the kids - they loved it.”

Richard Clem's wife filed a lawsuit last month against her Husband's former employer who allegedly fired him for farting too much.
The 70-year-old man and his wife, Louann, both worked at Case Pork Roll Company of Trenton, New Jersey. He was fired in February, 2014, for his supposed flatulence, according to court documents but she just filed the lawsuit in September 2015.
Louann Clem claims in a court filing that her husband's termination was a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Richard Clem supports the lawsuit and is taking legal action on his own through the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
"When the suit was filed, I didn't know it would go viral," Clem told The Huffington Post. "I was very surprised."
Richard Clem started working at Case Pork Roll in 2004 as a comptroller and believes he did a good job.
"I brought them into the 21st century," he said proudly.
At the time of his hire, Clem weighed about 420 pounds, but underwent gastric bypass surgery in October 2010, to get rid of his own porky belly. Clem lost about 120 pounds before gaining back 10. He's also suffered some embarrassing side effects, including "extreme gas and uncontrollable diarrhea."
In 2013, Clem’s symptoms worsened, which caused “significant disruption in the workplace,” according to the suit.
Louann Clem, who began her job at Case Pork Roll in 2008, said  the company president Thomas Dolan repeatedly griped about her husband's gassy problem.
The suit alleges Dolan made Richard Clem work at home and said things like, "We cannot run an office and have visitors with the odor in the office," and "Tell Rich we are having complaints from people who have problems with the odors."
Richard Clem was fired from Case Pork Roll on February 28, 2014,  Louann Clem quit the same day “because of the harassment and discrimination her husband faced as a result of his disability and the resulting symptoms,” according to NJ1015.com.
The Clems' lawyer, David Koller, said his client's gastrointestinal disorders may be getting headlines, but aren't the key part of the case.
"Flatulence and farting is the sexy part of the story, but my client suffers from obesity, which is covered by the Americans with Disabilities Act," Koller said.
Louann Clem is seeking damages from Case Pork Roll that include pain and suffering, compensatory damages and punitive damages.
Richard Clem also wants company employees to go through training programs that will prevent future incidents from occurring.
"I'm speaking up for people who are overweight," he said. "Does being obese mean you can't do a good job? Of course not!"

The police and the army have increased security in the Federal Capital Territory following Friday night’s suicide bomb attacks by two female suicide bombers suspected to be members of the Boko Haram.
Heavily armed security agents were seen checking vehicles on Abuja-Keffi Road; Airport Road; Asokoro and Wuse areas of the FCT.

The increased deployment of policemen was on the order of the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase, that Police Explosives Ordinance Disposal Units be immediately deployed on the scenes.
The IG, in a statement by the Force spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, assured Nigerians of security, stating that the
“Force is prepared to do all within its reach to ensure adequate security of lives and property.”
“Following the incidents, the Police High Command ordered an immediate deployment of Police Explosives Ordinance Disposal Units to the scenes to prevent further destructions and ordered massive stop-and-search activities in and around the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.”

A mother and daughter duo started out doing porn together because they wanted to make more money. It was the daughter, Monica, who suggested it to her mother, and because the money was good they carried on. To them it was all pretty normal. Speaking to Vice, Monica said.
“I was 20. Things are really open between my mum and I, so I just went to her and said that doing porn together was a really good idea and that we should do it, so we did.”
“We had producers come to us and ask us if we’d perform together. Of course, with it being a real mother and daughter, it couldn’t involve any sexual contact between the two of us because that would make it illegal. So we started doing that and we enjoyed it a lot. We enjoy working together – we’re just a couple of performers chasing the American dream.”
They tended to keep their sex lives separate off camera, but Monica did reveal one instance where ‘things got a little out of hand’ with her one of her mum’s boyfriends.
Sharing the same in films guy wasn’t awkward, as Monica says, “We’ve watched each other shoot porn and we’ve watched each other f**k, so it really wasn’t a big deal.”
If you were wondering what dad made of it all, well, he wasn’t around. But there is another member of the family, Monica’s brother and Jessica’s son, who apparently was too into his computer games to really give a dam.
They are very clear that they draw the line on ‘messing around’ with each other. In an interview with the Huffington Post Jessica said:
“We don’t have a problem doing two-on-one. We will have sex with one man, but not interact with each other.”
Although, according to Monica, this was a lot more difficult than her mum made it sound.
“It’s not easy to do, our lips never touch and that can be a problem when filming.”

President Buhari has been listed as one of the top 50 muslim leaders in the world. The list was compiled by international Islamic piblication called The Muslim 500. President Buhari was listed as Number 20 on the list.

Other notable Islamic figures in Nigeria that made the list include the Sultan of Sokoto, Saád Abubakar, and a Maiduguri-based Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Saleh. Congratulations to them.

Oshanugo James Anyasi, 35, was sentenced by a Hanoi court to 12 years in jail Tuesday, September 29, for two separate fraud convictions, including one for pretending to love women and conning them out of money. Oshanugor was convicted of cyber fraud for appropriating other people’s assets.

The love con involved three others, including a Vietnamese woman who is serving a 3-year sentence given in February for the crime. Two other Nigerian men, the alleged masterminds, are still at large.

The four met each other in September 2012 and decided to cheat Vietnamese women by hooking up with them online, pretending to become their lovers and promising them expensive gifts, then faking phone calls and emails from customs and shipping agencies to ask them to transfer shipping fees to certain accounts.

Investigators found they had stolen more than 400 million (US$17,800) from 10 women. Anyasi got 15 percent for playing the role of an English businessman and chatting with the women, the Vietnamese got 10 percent, and the other two, reportedly based in Malaysia, took the rest.

One woman in southern Vietnam paid a “shipping fee” of nearly VND21 million before getting an email asking for another VND46 million. It was then that she realized it was a scam. A woman in Nha Trang in central Vietnam paid nearly VND100 million, believing it was a fee to receive around VND10 billion Anyasi was transferring to Vietnam to buy land in the resort town.

A Ho Chi Minh City woman, who was promised an iPhone, a ring and 10,000 pounds, paid nearly VND12 million. In the other fraud case, Anyasi stole nearly $12,000 by hacking into the email of a Vietnamese company and asking its partners to transfer the money. He was arrested in February while waiting to board a flight to Cambodia.

President Buhari has released a statement reacting to the twin bomb blast that happened in Kuje and Nyanya in Abuja yesterday night. Read the statement personally signed by him below...
"These cowardly attacks expose the real faces of the planners and perpetrators of these crimes. What quarrel do they have with the good people of Nyanya motor park? What issue do they have with innocent people in market places in Maiduguri, Yola and Kuje? It is clear this battle is not ideological. It is between the forces of peace and order and the evil forces of murder and destruction", he said.
He said the security agents including the police and army have been instructed to be extra vigilant in this time. He sympathized with the families of all the victims that died in the attacks.
